ARMY WING
Army Wing started functioning in 1952. This Wing is primarily
responsible for conduct of various courses. The first course
conducted by this Wing was Technical Staff Course (TSC). Various
long term and short-term courses have been introduced to meet
the training needs of the Officers of IA, IN, DGQA, DGOF and
Scientists of DRDO.

Military Vehicle Technology Course (MVTC)
Duration : 104 Weeks CAPACITY
: 20
Eligibility : BE/B tech(Auto),
(Prod), (Mech), (Met)
Aim : The aim of the course
is to impart advanced training and up to date knowledge in
the field of design development & operation of wheeled
& tracked vehicles with emphasis on combat vehicles. At
the end of the course the officer should be able to undertake
R & D work and/ or undertake inspection, testing and evaluation
of combat vehicle systems.
Contents : Numerical Methods,
Microprocessor Applications, Material Science & Technology,
Instrumentation & Automatic Control, Military Vehicle
Power Plant, Combat Vehicle Technology, Vehicle Dynamics,
Vehicle System Engineering, Vehicle Design Performance etc.

Technical Staff Officers Course (TSOC)
Duration : 48 Weeks
Eligibility : BE / B Tech-B.Sc
(PCM) / B.A. with TTC or LGSC qualified.
Aim : To train Army officers
to the standard required for Grade II or equivalent specified
graded staff appointments at various formation HQs in Army.
Contents : Tactics & Staff
Duties, Computer Engineering, Material Science, Applied Statistics,
Operational Research & Analysis, Electrical & Electronic
Technology, Gun Mortar & Rockets, Eqpt Management, Combat
Vehicle Technology, Military Vehicle Power Plant, Sand Model,
Ammunition, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Engine etc.

Tank Technology Course (TTC)
Duration : 39 Weeks CAPACITY
: 20 officers
Aim : To impart training to
the officers of Armoured Corps & other mechanized arms,
a sound knowledge of Tank Technology to make them fit for
employability in selected staff appointments as Liaison Officers
at Factories, Trial Offices, R&D Estt / DGQA & hold
Technical appointments in Regiments.
Eligibility : Five Years Commission
Service with Basic knowledge of Science (Intermediate / Equivalent)
Contents : Mathematics, OR/SA,
Electronics & Radar, Tank Weapon & Armour, Military
Vehicle Power Plant, Nuclear Science & Weapons, Optronics,
Tank Engine, Ammunition & Mines, Battlefield Surveillanc

Armoured Vehicle Technology Course (AVTC)
Duration : 12 Weeks CAPACITY
: 15 officers
Eligibility : BE / ME or Equivalent
Aim : Give exposure to Engineers
on Military Vehicle Technology
Contents : Combat Vehicle Technology,
Military Vehicle Power Plant, Military Vehicle System Technology,
Tank Weapon & Armour, AFV Vehicle Electronics, Material
Science & Technology, Nuclear Science & Weapons, Biological
& Chemical Warfare etc.

Quality Assurance & Reliability
Engineering Course (QAREC)
Duration : 12 Weeks CAPACITY
: 10 officers
Aim : To impart training in
the latest techniques of QA & RE to Officers at middle
management level with the view to increase their effectiveness
as Inspectors / Designers / Producers.
Eligibility : Officers of Indian
Army, DRDO & DGQA and other services
Contents : ISO Standards, Indian
Standards, Operational Research, Reliability Engineering,
Combat Modelling, Statistical Quality Control, TQM, etc.

Continuing Education Programmes (CEP)
The Army Wing conducts CEP on yearly basis with an aim to
keep the service officers/ scientists abreast of the latest
technologies on Armament and related systems. The CEP is conducted
in the fields of Emerging Technology in Combat Vehicles, Tank
Armament, Power Plant etc.
Facilities
The wing has a well-equipped Vehicle Shed for
practical training and demonstration for the student officers.
The wing also has a well-stocked library on various subjects
related to armament and general subjects.
Areas Of Project / Research Work
The Department, along with student officers undertakes
the project work, which is of the interest to IA as well as
DRDO. The projects/research works are being undertaken in
the following fields :-
(a) Military Combat Vehicles
(b) Gear Box Designing
(c) Turbo charging
(d) GSQR for Combat Vehicles
(e) Engine Design etc.
