Applied science and engineering is important for technology development. It is the application of scientific knowledge transferred into a physical environment. DIAT (DU) Faculty and Scientist are  receiving grants from  the DRDO Hq, DRDO Laboratories, CSIR, DST, DBT, Industries and other government departments etc., to conduct research in various fields of defence and allied subjects which have a theoretical, conceptual, methodological or policy orientation on the subject of their choice. The research projects may belong to any one of the following disciplines or may be interdisciplinary in nature. The disciplines are: Aerospace, Mechanical, Laser & Electro Optics, Modelling & Simulation, Electronics, Energetic Materials & Polymers, Computer Science, Materials, Nano Technology and other applications to Army, Navy and Air Force etc.
