History and Growth of the department:

Department of Aerospace Engineering (earlier known as The Faculty of Guided Missiles) was established in 1960 to impart knowledge to Scientists and Officers of the Armed Forces to take up the challenges in design, development, and use of guided missiles. The department is engaged in teaching and research in a broad area of Aerospace Engineering with stress on Missile Technology. The department endeavors to produce quality students, undertake project/consultancy work, conduct seminars, symposia, and workshops, update knowledge of working scientists/defense officers through continuing education/short term programs, tailor-made courses, and conduct/guide quality research work to meet the mission of DIAT (DU). Currently, the department offers M.Tech. (Aerospace Engineering) (Guided Missiles), M.Tech. (Aerospace Engineering) (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles), M.Tech. (Aerospace Engineering) (Air Armament) and Ph.D. program. Apart from the degree programs, the department also regularly conducts many short term courses for DRDO, Armed Forces, and other organizations and conducts tailor-made courses as per the users’ requirements.
